FLYING THEME
CRAFTS:
Parachute
Each
child requires a 30cm square of orange plastic (cut from garbage bags),
four self sticking reinforcement rings, four lengths of thin wire (telephone
wire), and a plastic clothespin. The kids punch a hole in each corner of
the plastic and attach the reinforcement rings around the holes. Thread
the wires through the holes and tie a knot at the end. Take all four wires
and tie a knot to hold them together. Clip the clothespin onto the knot.
Throw the parachute into the air and watch the parachute descend.
Paper
Airplanes
Make
different styles and designs of paper airplanes, and colour them.
GAMES & ACTIVITIES:
Paper
Airplanes
After
making your airplanes - have a flying contest to see who goes the distance.
Try it outside to findout how the weather changes the/ affects the flying.
Watch The Flying Jet
You can watch a jet flying
all over the sky, no matter where you are. You'll need a cardboard tube,
a piece of plastic wrap and tape. Trace around the end of the tube on the
plastic wrap with a ball point pen. Draw a small jet plane on the middle
of the circle. Then tape the plastic wrap to the tube, keeping the jet
in the middle of the tube opening. To see the jet fly, just look up at
the sky or ceiling through the open end of your telescope. Move your head
around slowly while looking through it and the jet will seem to be flying
across the sky.
